It's a little mysterious. I think they have like a midi file or sound track for the music, and drive the animations off the music. There's a description at http://www.animusic.com/support/what-is-animusic.php , but it's just a bit vague. (I think that animations like in "Toy Story" are driven off the sound track, as well, so they can get the lip movement to look right etc.) In this particular example I think they would at the least have to have a separate track for each instrument, 'cuz they are all plucked strings...
Neat! Which comes first? The animation or the music? Or is the music synthesized as well?
