I have come to detest Bernie Sanders.

Fuck Bernie Sanders, his momma, and the white horse he rode his racist ass in on. Those white voters don't exist.

  1. This seems like a valid point. I didn't read the article, but the headline sure describes my Mom. She's 'blue', through and through issue-wise, except she would way rather see white folks doing all the good works, and everyone else thanking them for it. Or at least it seems that way.

  2. That bastard fooled me in the 2016 primaries. After Trump was elected, he showed his true colors.

    Never again.

  3. To be fair Kent, you probably never liked Sanders from the beginning. Also, there's a saying in Swahili, "Kila mwamba ngoma huvuta kwake. (A drum maker stretches the skin to his own side). And so in describing some Democrats as not being progressive enough, Sanders is only explaining a complex world through his own eyes.

  4. The first claim sounds very similar to Trump's claim that Republican losers didn't "embrace him" enough.

  5. Helen Ikua Actually, in the very early days of 2016, when it looked like it was going to be another Bush against another Clinton, I favored Sanders over Clinton. My dislike of him is something that grew slowly over time. Now I see him as an grasping self-serving populist demagogue. Whatever credit he may have had has been burned out by his blind ambition. You know the old saying: "Once you can fake integrity, you've got it made."

  6. Kent Crispin And I have a feeling that Bernie is thinking of running again, seeing as how the lesson that he took from this midterms is that there's a clear path for an authentic progressive (like himself) to take the White House in 2020. 😏

  7. Kent Crispin He fooled me too. Bernie only cares about Bernie. He bashes the DNC for being corporatist, then he uses their money. But the race issue is what really strikes a nerve with me. If he is going to pretend that race is not playing a role with these elections he is doingbrhe same thing Democrats in the past have. So what makes him so different?

  8. Helen Ikua I can't think of "authentic" and "Bernie Sanders" at the same time. At one time he may have been authentic, but standing in front of adoring crowds left him struck by his own stardom, and now everything he does is a show in service of his ambition.

During the 2016 election I was serious about my due diligence -- Bernie was a real possible choice for me. Ultimately I favored Clinton because she was the best person for the job -- Bernie wasn't even close. But I took him seriously. At some point during the campaign he lost himself, and became a victim of his own sense of entitlement.

Jay Re: "What makes him so different?" Sanders is a committed believer in economic determinism -- for him, all social injustices are ultimately the result of economic forces. He gives lip-service concern about racism, but he doesn't really get it.The democratic position, chaotic though it is, has for some time now at least partially agreed that racism is a problem on its own.

  9. Clinton had the most progressive platform since FDR and even incorporated some of Sander's ideas. But I never heard that mentioned even once, by anyone.

  10. Kent Crispin Personally I thought then and I think now that people tend to take too many things about Bernie Sanders at face value. Certainly he's never been subjected to the same scrutiny as Hillary. Even the same crowd that throws hissy fits at the mere suggestion of Hillary running again, seems to accept Bernie's impending second attempt at the White House without so much as raised eyebrows.

  11. Helen Ikua And these are, generally, the same people that demand that all the octogenarian Congress members be run out of office for being to old and senile.

  18. NZ vs OZZY relations are a bit like USA vs Canada . There is rivalry but we have more common than we done.

OZZY has been a bit of a dick recently with putting boat people (refugees) into concentration camps, but that's mainly a conservative government being Trump like. And Kiwi try not to judge people by their leadership.

  20. Helen Ikua DEAR HELEN DREAMER.NO WAY IN HELL,

    ReplyDelete
  21. Ted Shaw Mr Shaw, I do so try to avoid tangling with silly people if it's at all possible. And the reason why I asked you, "Meaning what?" was not because I found your impertinent and extraneous quip ,"DEAR HELEN DREAMER.NO WAY IN HELL," (sic) to be a quip that's too intellectually profound to decipher, but only because I did not want to go for your jugular before giving you a chance to establish a clear link between your insensate ramblings and the headline, "I have come to detest Bernie Sanders," under which this post was reshared. And while I congratulate you for your long track record in the lobbying industry, I would hate for you to labour under any assumptions that I am similarly interested in lobbying for any political groups or even in ever running for political office. I assure you that my interest in politics and its analysis thereof, remains as it has always been, purely cerebral. And your age is no excuse to ramble Mr Shaw, indeed I have found Kent Crispin who reshared this post to which I was responding and who is 70 years old, to be concise, lucid, witty, and cordial.

  22. Helen Ikua I hope that grouchy old man syndrome doesn't get me when I'm 80, should I live that long :-) Good to see you popping up on other social media sites, by the way -- you are a friend I don't want to lose as G+ goes under.

  23. Kent Crispin Oh, I have a feeling you'll be an agreeable 80 year old Kent, and shall remain a joy to your family and those who know you for a while to come. And in spite of our obvious difference in age and race, I've come to count you as one my homies. 😀
